"For me, the desire for freedom was planted in early childhood. Growing up during World War II in Germany and Austria, living in bomb shelters and a prison camp, developed in me a deep longing for freedom. After the war ended, I found my freedom in ski racing, mountain climbing, and fox hunting.
My first trip to the U.S. showed me a country full of freedom, a place I immediately wanted to call home. I have enjoyed that freedom for many years now, finally experiencing what it's like to be able to move from one place to another without the burden of having to register with local police every time I do. In essence freedom, for me, is the right to express what you believe, to elect the politicians to whom you feel connected, and to do business in an honest way, free from the oppressive restrictions of the banking industry."

"To me, freedom has always been about the ability to escape whatever my surroundings might be at any given time. As a small child, that meant being able to cross the street unattended. As an adolescent, it meant riding my bike to nearby stores, or taking long, extracurricular field trips. At 16, freedom became driving; the moment I had those car keys in hand, I was done with the life of the sedentary and banal.
At 30, I have traveled to 38 states and 10 countries. I love the thrill of seeing new things, meeting new types of people, and learning new cultures.
